CN's M420's

The Montreal locomotive Works M420 was significant for many reasons. It introduced the 'safety cab' to North America and is now an industry standard. Built in 1973; the M420 was the last 4-axle Canadian design by MLW. Shot taken 15/6/79 in St Lambert; Quebec.

This train is eastbound in Montreal; flying the white flags of an 'extra' freight'; a practice which continued in Canada long after white flags were no longer used in the U.S.A.. - April 1975
